ABOUT US

Welcome to Hiland Hill Preschool

We at Hiland Hill Preschool strive to enrich and support the development of young children during the most formative years of their lives. Through hands on learning and exploration your child will have the opportunity to participate in activities which will enhance and build on the experiences they have at home with you, their family.

Our curriculum and programs are based on developmentally appropriate practices for young children. Your child will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with caring adults and begin to develop friendships with their classmates. The Hiland Hill staff will help foster your child’s budding independence, and gradually prepare them for their transition into Kindergarten. At Hiland Hill, we strive to achieve the best in early childhood education in a Christian environment. We are a D.C.F.S. licensed preschool.

History

Hiland Hill is sponsored by Bethesda Evangelical Covenant Church, under the direction of a preschool board. The board oversees staff, policies, curriculum, and general operation of the school. This board is in turn responsible to the church council and Bethesda's Leadership Team.

Facility

Daily inspection and hazard checks are completed to ensure the safety of you child. We are proud of our facility, how it looks, and feels to you and your child. Your child will spend a good deal of time with us, so we will strive to create a warm, welcoming and developmentally appropriate environment for your child.

Hiland Hill Preschool has installed a Kiddie Cam Service for our families. The daycare camera allows you to watch live video of your child learning, playing, and interacting with other children in the center. Webcam security is Bethesda's number one priority. To gain access to viewing your child at Hiland Hill you must email a request to Cheryl Benson, who only allows parents with current students to view the camera. Essentially, the Kiddie Cam service extends our own open door policy: the student's parents and/or guardians that can physically stop in during the day to watch a class are given web camera access to watch their child online. The website access just makes "dropping in" much more convenient.

School Hours

1. Classes are held from 9:00am-11:30am, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

2. Please arrive as near to starting time as possible. Classroom doors will be unlocked at 8:55 a.m.

3. Your child should be picked up promptly at dismissal time at (11:30-11:35). A child becomes insecure when all of his/her classmates are gone and no one has arrived for them.

Any time beyond 11:35 will incur a charge of $5.00 and $1.00 per minute thereafter, unless the school is notified of an emergency. In compliance with D.C.F.S. policy: If a child is left at the school an hour past pick-up time, we are obligated to call the Rockford Police Department and contact D.C.F.S.

Families will enter through the EAST entrance of the church, unless the elevator is needed. Parents/Guardians are required to sign their child in, take them to the restroom and bring them to the classroom. Children must be picked up from the classroom at dismissal time after they are signed out. Your child will not be released to any person not listed on the application form. Valid I.D may be required for unfamiliar faces.
